Some of the best young classical guitar musicians in the US have formed this group while studying for their doctorate degrees at Florida State University’s lauded guitar program.

Their performances have brought them to enthusiastic audiences throughout Europe, Canada and the United States. Collectively, they were awarded five 1st Prizes at several recognized guitar competitions, including the Lachine International Guitar Competition, Canada, the Portland International Guitar Competition, and the prestigious Columbus State Guitar Competition held in Columbus, GA. In addition, Stephen Mattingly was recently awarded the revered Theodore Presser Grant to record the complete guitar chamber music of Franz Schubert.

The members of the quartet have been invited to perform or lecture at many significant music festivals throughout the world, including the Guitar Foundation of America Festival, the Iserlohn Guitar Symposium, Germany, the Lachine International Music Festival, and the upcoming Acadia Classic Guitar Festival that will be held in Nova Scotia, Canada. They have held Adjunct Professorships at several schools, including the University of North Texas in Denton, TX, the Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, NY, and Bainbridge College in Bainbridge, GA. Staunch supporters of new music, Tantalus commissioned two new works for guitar quartet by award winning composers Alan Scott and Joseph Michaels.
